One of the great pleasures of staying in Llandudno is the food. The town has a genuinely impressive range of restaurants and pubs for its size, from authentic Italian trattorias to award-winning Indian cuisine and proper Welsh pubs with real ales and open fires. Whether you are after a romantic dinner for two, a relaxed family meal or a pint and a pie before a show at Venue Cymru, Llandudno delivers.
Better still, almost everything on this list is within easy walking distance of The Oasis. No taxis, no driving, just a short stroll through one of Wales’s finest seaside towns to a great meal.
A note on booking: Llandudno’s best restaurants are small and genuinely popular. Several of the places listed below are difficult to get into without a reservation, particularly at weekends and during peak summer weeks. If you are planning a special evening out, book as soon as you have your travel dates confirmed.
Italian Restaurants in Llandudno
Llandudno has not one but three excellent Italian restaurants, each with its own character.
Carlos is the long-standing institution. Tucked away on Pleasant Street, it has been serving generous, home-style Italian cooking to locals and visitors for years and consistently sits near the top of the TripAdvisor rankings. The portions are enormous, the pasta is excellent and the wine list is well-chosen. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 5.30pm. Book ahead, it fills up fast.
Da Venezia is the newer arrival and has quickly established itself as one of the most talked-about places to eat in town. Run by Michele and Sibilla Venezia, it is a proper family Italian with housemade pasta, daily fresh fish specials and a warmth of hospitality that keeps people coming back. Rated 4.8 on Google and holding a TripAdvisor Travellers Choice award. Open Monday to Saturday from 5.30pm on Gloddaeth Street. Booking well in advance is essential.
Mamma Rosa has been part of the Llandudno dining scene for over two decades and remains a firm local favourite. Set in a cosy Victorian house close to Venue Cymru, it serves authentic Italian pasta and pizza alongside a daily specials board. More recently the kitchen has expanded to include Sri Lankan dishes, making it one of the more interesting and distinctive menus in town. Dog-friendly too, which is worth knowing if you are exploring Llandudno with your four-legged companion.
Dylan’s Llandudno
Dylan’s is one of the most celebrated restaurant groups in Wales and the Llandudno outpost sits right on the promenade with views across the bay. Known for its fresh, locally sourced seafood, wood-fired pizzas and relaxed, airy atmosphere, it is the kind of place that suits everyone from a leisurely lunch to a proper dinner out. One of the best spots in town for a long, relaxed meal with a view. Booking recommended.
Indian Cuisine
For a proper Indian meal, Mostyn Tandoori on Mostyn Street is the place to go. Formerly the Jasmin House and now relaunched as an upscale Indo-Bangla restaurant, it has built a strong reputation for its spicing, its service and its atmosphere. Reviews as recent as June 2026 praise the mixed kebab starters and the overall quality of the kitchen. Booking is advised at weekends.
Pre-Theatre Dining in Llandudno
If you are planning an evening at Venue Cymru, the good news is that several of the restaurants above are perfectly placed for a pre-show meal. Mamma Rosa is a favourite with theatre-goers, being just a short walk from the venue. Carlos and Da Venezia both fill up on show nights so booking early is particularly important if you have tickets. Dylan’s on the promenade is a good option for a more relaxed, earlier sitting before an evening performance. Allow at least 90 minutes for your meal to make the show comfortably.
Pubs Worth Knowing
The Cottage Loaf on Market Street is arguably the best traditional pub in town. Named one of the UK’s top 100 pubs, it has wooden beams, open fires, Cask Marque accredited ales and a menu of proper hearty pub food. It is the kind of place you stumble into for one pint and leave two hours later having had a genuinely great evening.
Tapps is Llandudno’s celebrated micropub on Madoc Street, rated 4.8 on Google from over 1,000 reviews. No keg lagers, no fruit machines, no distractions. Just an outstanding rotating selection of cask ales, craft beers and a proper pub atmosphere. Perfect for a pre-dinner drink or a post-show pint.
The Albert is close to the town centre and railway station and offers hand-pulled ales from local and independent breweries alongside a solid food menu served throughout the day. Relaxed, friendly and reliable.
Start Your Day at The Oasis
Of course, the best meal of your Llandudno stay begins before you even step out the door. Every guest at The Oasis wakes up to a proper full cooked breakfast, the perfect way to fuel a day of exploring before working your way through the best of what the town has to offer in the evening.
